Contrary to popular belief, tennis elbow is not just for tennis players!  See, life is fairer than you thought.  Why should tennis players get all the fun? Seriously though, tennis elbow is no fun for anyone.  It is a condition when the outer part of the elbow becomes sore and painful and may cause weakness in the arm.  Inflammation usually accompanies the disorder and oftentimes, you can pinpoint the pain.   Activities using the forearm, such as twisting or gripping will send you a definite pain signal! Tennis Elbow is caused from injury or wear and tear because of overuse and that’s the good news.  That means, the condition can be prevented with proper care to start with. Prevention:
  • Resting and avoiding overuse and repetitive motion is the best way to prevent a breakdown of the tendons in the elbow.
Treatments:
  • The number one conservative treatment is rest
  • Over the counter pain relievers can be helpful
  • Physical therapy
  • If left untreated, you may end up with chronic pain
If you suspect you have tennis elbow, give us a call and let one of our Board Certified Providers make a proper assessment and get you back on the road to good health.
